IE6 is a piece of shit

Fuck you Microsoft. Fuck your monopoly and years of neglecting your browser after you wiped out Netscape. You can't even program a SELECT element properly. Yeah, I know it's supposedly fixed in IE7 but that's not helping me now when we still have tons of IE6 users.

Microsoft, please dump your crappy HTML renderer and adopt Gecko or KHTML. While you're at it, dump IE altogether (because that sucks ass too) and just bundle Firefox or Opera (hell, I'd almost rather use Lynx than I freaking E) . Confucious say, "you can't polish a turd."

Crap like this is why I wanted to get out of the website business (but keep getting dragged back into it).

Where's That Noose At?

So I was churning out tons of SQL statements this afternoon* and I'm startled by this faint and weird but oddly familiar tune somewhere behind me. WTF is that? Hmm... is that Don't Worry Be Happy by Bobby McFerrin?

Indeed, it was. Turns out my Cube Neighbor had stepped out for a minute and apparently now has a new ringtone. I guess this is marginally better than the old one - the Sex and the City theme song. That's what I get for taking my headphones out.

Oh yeah, a much discussed but oft-delayed reorg is supposedly coming down soon and it looks like I might be screwed again.

*Not really true but writing SQL statements sounds a lot better than goofing off at work.

Bake Sale

So there was this bake sale at work today for some charity. For some reason it was deemed necessary to send FOUR company-wide email announcements about it today. The first one is ok but damn, emails two to four ought to count as spam or something. Oh yeah, there was a fifth email at COB stating that the leftovers were free. Maybe there would've been more takers if they sent out more emails.
