Stuff White People Like
As the title suggests, it's a blog about stuff white people like. Every weekday, the author reveals one thing that white people like with witty commentary. Some of my favorites: Farmer's Markets, Organic Food, Asian Chicks, Having Black Friends and Gentrification.
Stuff Asian People Like
Perhaps as a response to SWPL (maybe, maybe not, I'm too lazy to find out), Stuff Asian People Like is almost exactly the same except for Asian People instead of White People. And they post on weekends. This one is particularly interesting for me since I'm Asian and am intimately familiar with some of the stuff on here. Slurping, hoarding, buffets, home gardens, bad accents, not wearing shoes indoors... oh yeah, it's like I never moved away from home.
What I meant to say was ass licker cum balls
Holy crap... I finally saw the South Park episode where Cartman fakes having Tourette's Syndrome. My God, this is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time.

Two Championships in One Weekend
Friday:
My ice hockey team wins the Duluth Iceforum CC championship to cap a ridiculous 14-1 season (and that one loss was in December when I and about half the team didn't play). I played pretty well and I'm still a little sore today. No goals but I played great defense which is my role for now anyway.
Sunday:
Giants win the Super Bowl. Lots of so-called experts predicted a Pats blowout. How? It was a 3 point game when they played just a month ago. Anyway, I had multiple heart attacks in that last drive. That was absolutely nuts.... the drive that defines Eli Manning's career. I may have to purchase the DVD.
BTW, did anyone catch that Bill Belichick interview after the game on Fox? I felt uncomfortable watching that from my living room. I couldn't imagine being the dude that interviewed him. I thought Belichick was gonna strangle him.
Milledge traded
Lastings Milledge traded to the Nationals for Ryan Church and Brian Schneider? WTF? What a fucktarded trade. I give up on the Mets. I solemnly swear to never attend another Mets game until Omar is gone. Fire Omar! Douchebag. Watch Milledge torch the Mets for the next 10 years. Jesus, what an asshole. I need to sever my twenty something year tie with the Mets and find a new team to root for. Christ.
It's gift giving season again
It's November which means it's time to start buying your Hannukahmaszaa gifts. Not only do I get the pleasure of agonizing about what to get for my parents but we get bombarded with these nauseating Kay Jewelers commercials every damn hour. I'd link up a Youtube video but I actually can't find one right now. Second in line of the advertisers I'd like to send to hell is the ones who creates those damn Lexus commercials where they wrap the car in a bow. Haven't seen those yet this year. Bastards.
Pickles are cucumbers soaked in evil
I would totally get
this shirt but I can't see myself wearing it outside. That and it's green.
I've got the touch, I've got the power!
Yes, that's the song by Stan Bush from the old Transformers movie. Anyway, I got my iPod Touch a couple of Friday's ago. I actually left work at noon to get the Apple store when I found it they had it in stock.
I've been yearning for a new iPod for over a year and Apple finally delivered. This thing is freaking awesome. Luckily I don't have the crappy screen issue everyone keeps bitching about. The most surprising thing is that Safari looks great despite that relatively small screen. I'm checking WSJ, Woot and playing Bejeweled when I'm bored. I've also whipped up a page to get stock quotes with AJAX refreshes.
Speaking of stock quotes, I'm pretty pissed that Apple took that out of the Touch. Hopefully the hackers figure out a way to get the missing stuff back on there. Another annoyance is the headphone jack on the bottom. Not cool. The touch comes with a little iPod stand but then you can't plug your headphones in if you place the Touch on the stand vertically. That's just stupid.
Anyway, those are my main gripes. It's not perfect but it'll do.
I want to throw my phone out the window
Bad, RIMM, bad. My Blackberry Pearl just accidentally called 911 for the second time in a week (and maybe the fifth time overall). All it takes is a double click of the trackball when the phone is locked. What a stupid ass design! I can't believe it doesn't happen more often.
A quick Google reveals that it can't be disabled (some stupid law apparently) and the only workaround is to put it in standby mode instead of locked.
Oh yeah, my phone also randomly stops playing sounds and then randomly fixes itself. So no ringer = missed calls. Luckily, the phone still works though.
Update
I see I haven't posted in a while...
My work project from hell is over for now. It finally went live last Thursday. I managed to survive with minimal emotional damage though I think I gained a few extra pounds due to poor sleeping and dietary habits. Free soda and snacks at the office probably has something to do with that too.
My car got totalled a few weeks ago. Second accident this year after having one in my entire lifetime. Some crazy/lost chicky tourist from Denmark cut across three lanes of West Peachtree to make a left turn onto 12th Street. I was in her blind spot. Then I was airborne and landed in a parking lot.
So now I have a new car. Technically, it's used but it's new to me. I got a 2004 Saab 9-3 Aero. It's a bit nicer than my previous Saab but it also cost $5000 more. I have still have to go get my registration and tags (license plates, for those not in the South) on Friday but that'll be the end of that saga.
With things calming down at work and my car stuff almost done with, I can finally focus on getting a new job now.
What else... let's see... the roller coaster stock market ride continues. I'm sitting on huge gains so I know I won't get wiped out but it's still somewhat stressful. My portfolio is at a high now but I'm sure the story will be different a week from now.
It's July and I've somehow managed to avoid getting sick this summer. That hasn't happened ever.
Am I depressed because I'm watching Lost In Translation or am I watching Lost In Translation because I'm depressed? Hahaha, the high-class Japanese hooker scene just came on. I'm watching it on my
fabulous new 42" LCD TV. The old 32" CRT had been sitting in my living room for a couple of months until I finally unloaded it to a friend of a friend last week.
I got a
new bed and
side tables.
The Rangers got Drury and Gomez. Didn't see that coming.
The Knicks got Zach Randolph. Didn't see that coming either.
Here's to a better second half of the year.
Really Tired
So it's almost 4am and I'm resigned to not being able to get much (or any) sleep tonight. I've worked an insane amount of hours today (this entire weekend, really) in order to meet my deadline tomorrow (specifically, my 9am demo). Luckily, I had a quick nap this afternoon and woke up around 1:30 so I'm not totally dead. However, I can't see myself staying at work past lunch. I'm gonna have to leave early and get some sleep. In hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have gone out for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. Oh well.
Anyway, I've been listening to "This American Life" online pretty much the entire day except for my nap and a 90 minute dinner to bid a friend farewell before he departs for his Peace Corps assignment in Mongolia. I've caught TAL a bunch of times on XM but not on a consistent basis. This is some good stuff... my day would've sucked a lot more if I didn't at least have that.
Back to work...
Trader Joe's is the shiznit
Good:
Pad Thai noodle box
$4.99/lb Tri-tip baked in my convection oven (though I found it for a few cents cheaper at Costco this week)
???/lb frozen lamb baked in my convection oven (no, I didn't name it Mary, I think it was in the $4 range)
Cinnamon apple dried fruit
Trader Joe's energy drink ($0.99!)
Fresh salsa (this stuff flew off the shelf)
Some teriyaki noodle bowl which I don't have the name of
Some frozen shrimp linguini meal in a bag
[Dammit, I'm watching Lost and it's a Charlie episode. I hate that whiny bastard. Just die already.]
Bad:
Parking really really far away because it's packed and the parking lot is tiny
Only having mild salsa when I was there
Closes at 9pm
Some stuff is expensive (fruits and nuts and frozen food) so gotta watch the prices carefully
Canned chicken stew and beef stew (the beef is slightly better but I'd rather get Chunky soup)
Nocturnality
"Nocturnality"... is that even a word? Anyway, it about a quarter past midhnight and I'm 5 hours (and 1/2 bottle of Trapiche Argentinian Malbec and 2 glasses of scotch) into a session of working from home. Actually, I'm taking a break, eating TGI Fridays mozzarella sticks from Costco (two thumbs up BTW, this shit is incredibly unhealthy but hits the spot every now and then). This feels so much like the all nighters I pulled in college way back when (damn I'm old).
Anyway, there is a point to all of this rambling... why the hell am I still such a night owl? I could've worked all afternoon but I took a nap and played video games instead. I thought I was supposed to grow out of this when I got older. I just work so much better at night. I can't freaking concentrate when it's sunny out and I know I'm just wasting my time if I try to work during the day from home. Maybe I should move to Alaska during the winter.... I would get so much work done.
Now there's some angry dude yelling outside. Yay. Back to work.
Vancouver has fugly ass uniforms
Did they really have to bring back that
old jersey? Damn.
Damn
This new chick on Lost is hot. Though she's apparently dead now so we might not see much of her anymore. What a shame.
