Really Tired

So it's almost 4am and I'm resigned to not being able to get much (or any) sleep tonight. I've worked an insane amount of hours today (this entire weekend, really) in order to meet my deadline tomorrow (specifically, my 9am demo). Luckily, I had a quick nap this afternoon and woke up around 1:30 so I'm not totally dead. However, I can't see myself staying at work past lunch. I'm gonna have to leave early and get some sleep. In hindsight, maybe I shouldn't have gone out for dinner on Friday and Saturday nights. Oh well.

Anyway, I've been listening to "This American Life" online pretty much the entire day except for my nap and a 90 minute dinner to bid a friend farewell before he departs for his Peace Corps assignment in Mongolia. I've caught TAL a bunch of times on XM but not on a consistent basis. This is some good stuff... my day would've sucked a lot more if I didn't at least have that.

Back to work...

The Best Band You Never Heard Of (and, because of that, they are no more)

So it's 2am on a Saturday night and I'm working (why? it's a long boring story that nobody wants to hear) and digging deep into my music collection for background music (because I've listened to my regular rotation of songs about 50 billion times this week) and I just rediscovered one of my favorite bands ever (they're not the usual alternative rock so they're not in my regular rotation). Saloon (that's the name of the band, not the place one drank and got into gunfights in the wild west) put out two albums that I know of and a B-sides album before they went kaput. I can't really pin them into a genre but if I had to try, I'd say they're electronic/pop/lounge. Think Stereolab...

Anyway, actually they do have a myspace page (even though they've disbanded) where you can stream some of their songs. Sadly, I can't find anything about what the singer is up to now. There's a couple of videos on youtube and I got their CDs from half.com. Good stuff.

I could've gotten so much work done in the 10 minutes it took me to type this post.

Trader Joe's is the shiznit

Good:
Pad Thai noodle box
$4.99/lb Tri-tip baked in my convection oven (though I found it for a few cents cheaper at Costco this week)
???/lb frozen lamb baked in my convection oven (no, I didn't name it Mary, I think it was in the $4 range)
Cinnamon apple dried fruit
Trader Joe's energy drink ($0.99!)
Fresh salsa (this stuff flew off the shelf)
Some teriyaki noodle bowl which I don't have the name of
Some frozen shrimp linguini meal in a bag

[Dammit, I'm watching Lost and it's a Charlie episode. I hate that whiny bastard. Just die already.]

Bad:
Parking really really far away because it's packed and the parking lot is tiny
Only having mild salsa when I was there
Closes at 9pm
Some stuff is expensive (fruits and nuts and frozen food) so gotta watch the prices carefully
Canned chicken stew and beef stew (the beef is slightly better but I'd rather get Chunky soup)
